This holiday season, a women’s shelter in Westminster has received a donation of new dresses and pants for the cold weather season.
In 2020, going to a store to get the clothes was difficult due to COVID-19 precautions, so a different approach was taken. Sebian Associates, Inc., which “adopts” the shelter at Christmas time, contacted a local Boscov’s store for assistance.
A list of individual clothing sizes and preferences was written. Amanda Conrad, store manager for the department store, worked with Sebian Associates, Inc. to select stylish clothing to be donated as holiday gifts to women who are temporarily homeless. Amanda gladly agreed to offer her time, saying she felt that the request was for a good cause. The store also provided wrapping paper to wrap the clothes. The presents were delivered to the shelter clients, much to their surprise and delight.
“Working with Amanda Conrad was such a pleasure,” said Joyce Sebian, owner of Sebian Associates, Inc. “Such dedication and willingness to help others makes our community strong.”
Sebian Associates, Inc. is an agency that provides services to promote inclusion and independence for persons with disabilities in Maryland.
